Systems Analyst - Oracle PL/SQL Developer

Overview
This position provides a role in the design, development, and support of technology solutions for Onpoint Health Data's business processes focused on Oracle PL/SQL Suite. Experience with custom and package technical applications are highly desirable with skills in, but not limited to, Oracle and Java.

A qualified candidate will have experience doing PL/SQL scripting and writing complex stored procedures. They also must be comfortable working with a large amount of data, data interfacing, and reporting.

Essential Functions

  • Work closely with end users in delivering high-quality application solutions that meet the business requirement
  • Write detailed technical design documents before building application solutions for the business requirements
  • Code, test, debug, and document more complex programs, and enhance existing programs to ensure that data processing production systems continue to meet user needs
  • Provide guidance and training to less-experienced programmers in order to improve productivity and efficiencies
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues
  • Analyze and resolve help desk tickets that are opened by business users
  • Experience with Oracle tools — a self-starter who is driven and researches Oracle's latest technologies to resolve business issues
  • Resolve issues using standard Oracle applications and processes
  • Interacting with Oracle via their formal Metalink SR process in order to secure assistance and solutions for problems that are beyond the internal capabilities to solve
  • Conducting or participating in requirement/analysis sessions
  • Perform modifications, including report writing, and maintain various application interfaces with other systems
  • Perform other duties that align with the position as delegated


Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent work experience
  • 6+ years of experience in the IT industry
  • 5+ years of programming experience
  • 5+ years of PL/SQL development experience
  • Extensive experience in Oracle 10g
  • In-depth experience in using Oracle Database 9i and 10g
  • Client/Server experience preferred
  • Strong development experience in SQL, PL/SQL, XML, and Java highly desirable
  • Prefer experience, training, or knowledge of various software development methodologies
  • Strong oral and written communication
  • Must be a creative problem solver — flexible, proactive, and comfortable in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Experience working with remote teams
  • Extended weekend and evening work required for an on-call rotation as well as during implementations and to meet project deadlines


Preferred Skills

  • General knowledge of database programming and systems analysis procedures
  • The ability to write and understand complex SQL statements and PL/SQL code
  • Data modeling
  • Should have strong RDBMS concepts
  • Business systems knowledge (i.e., Healthcare Insurance) is advantageous
  • Ability to manage stress and pressure inherent to application development, implementation, and support
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex problems in a production controlled environment
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
