Health Services Researcher

Overview
The Health Services Researcher is a member of the Onpoint Health Data research team responsible for the review, analysis, and presentation (written, graphic, verbal) of healthcare information from a variety of sources, including medical and pharmacy claims data, workers' compensation data, hospital inpatient/outpatient data, quality measurement data, and other resources. The Health Services Researcher works with Onpoint Health Data staff, clients, and collaborating organizations to support the efforts of the Onpoint Health Data Research Division.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Analytic support: Use of software analysis tools such as SAS, SQL, and MS Excel, as well as analysis and interpretation of healthcare cost and utilization information
  • Report and presentation development: Development of written and graphic presentation of information for client deliverables
  • Data quality and product integrity: Review reports to ensure the accuracy and validity of presented information; development of corrective action plans as needed
  • Research Support: Use of the internet and other resources to provide information relevant to Onpoint Health Data products (e.g., benchmarks)
  • Project management: Work with Onpoint Health Data clients to develop requests, deliverable timeframes, and review of final products


Knowledge, Experience, & Educational Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required; master's-level training is preferred
  • Experience in the healthcare field and knowledge of the healthcare industry is essential
  • Ability to analyze and present healthcare data
  • Experience with medical claims data and/or healthcare financial data is strongly preferred
  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of SAS and other statistical software, MS Access, and MS Excel
  • An aptitude for detail and a strong desire to learn will benefit this position
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
