Maine State Employee Health Commission
At the request of the state of Maine, Onpoint Health Data conducted an evaluation of differences in the cost and use associated with preference-sensitive conditions — ailments for which there are two valid, alternative treatment options. The goal: evaluating the potential gains in shifting payment models to informed decision making. Using statewide claims data, this evaluation applied episode treatment groups and evaluated the full range of services and payments for both nonsurgical and surgical services, including MRIs and chiropractic care.

Onpoint Health Data is helping Vermont compare healthcare data from patients in Medical Homes with those receiving standard care. Our reports for this nationally recognized initiative help policymakers evaluate the effectiveness of the Medical Home approach — a team-based, patient-centered model of care led by a personal physician providing highly coordinated care with seamless flow of information between a patient's personal doctor and specialists, labs, and hospitals, improving health outcomes.
