Descriptive Summary

We are seeking an effective, self-motivated business development leader to expand and lead all sales and business development efforts at Onpoint Health Data. The Director of Business Development will play a critical role in conveying Onpoint’s reputation as a market-leading health data and analytics organization known for high-quality, innovative, and responsive products and services. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong sales calling, technical savvy, great attention to detail, and a passion for building and managing a dedicated, self-sustaining sales effort.

The successful individual in this role will bring extensive health information technology and/or analytics product knowledge and experience. With a clear understanding of client needs within existing and new markets, the Director will support Onpoint’s Product and other teams in the development and delivery of appealing solutions that address these needs. They will leverage existing and develop new professional contacts and networks to build a steady pipeline of potential new business while expanding services to existing clients. Business development efforts will be focused on topline revenue growth consistent with strategic goals and direction. This person in this position will become knowledgeable about Onpoint Health Data’s products, services, and core business processes, enabling the individual to effectively assess and respond to clients’ questions, issues, and needs.

This is a hands-on role that wears multiple hats. From outreach and networking to tracking and following up on leads to doing market research, coordinating and contributing to proposal development, developing pitch decks, and leading certain marketing strategies, the responsibilities are broad, diverse, and opportunity filled. Responsibilities

Maintaining Industry Expertise

  • Become proficient in Onpoint’s products and services and our core business processes
  • Keep abreast of and inform leadership and others of health data management and analytics market and industry trends
  • Monitor and report on health policy changes regionally and nationally that impact Onpoint’s business
  • Participate in webinars, conferences (e.g., NAHDO, NASHP, CPC+), and trade shows

Growth in Existing Business

  • In coordination with Client Account Managers, regularly engage with existing clients to maintain relationships and offer expanded services
  • Proactively identify and address clients’ needs, remain alert and responsive to clients’ changing business interests, and ensure effective integration with products and service-delivery capabilities and priorities
  • Monitor and manage client satisfaction, recommending appropriate strategies, tactics, and operational initiatives to continuously enhance client satisfaction

Lead Generation & New Business

  • Implement a prospecting strategy, lead generation, and database of prospects
  • Monitor the market for RFP opportunities and lead RFP response and funding proposal efforts
  • Track and report on the status of pursued opportunities and progress toward growth targets
  • Identify and contact potential clients and relevant industry players
  • Lead the design and execution of proposals to potential clients with direct contribution to content development and refinement
  • Work with Finance staff and others to develop cost proposals and create and finalize client contracts
  • Prepare presentations for prospective clients and partners
  • Prepare for and participate in relevant webinars, trade shows, and other meetings

Strategic Planning & Goal Setting

  • Help lead Onpoint Health Data’s growth strategy design and goal setting
  • Work with Onpoint’s Finance staff and others to set annual revenue growth goals and strategies
  • Take lead in generating significant revenue growth for Onpoint by making steady progress toward annual targets
  • Assist with maintaining a consistent brand identity, quality, tone, and message in all external communications and publications
  • Develop the contracted scope of work within allowed resources, identifying and addressing the need for internal discussion
  • Develop strong relationships with Onpoint’s leadership team and staff to stay current with our work processes, technology, and products
  • Ensure innovation and competitiveness by monitoring market pricing, collecting competing proposals, and collaborating with the Product team regarding product offerings

Other

  • Understand the value that Onpoint places on maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of our corporate and client data and meet applicable privacy and security compliance requirements
  • Ensure that Onpoint and client data is accessed, handled, processed, transmitted, disclosed, and stored according to operational and IT policies and procedures
  • Immediately report any suspected or actual violation of privacy and security policies or unauthorized access or disclosure of Onpoint or client data
  • Understand that compliance with all privacy and security policies, laws, and regulations is part of each employee's annual performance evaluation
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined in the Onpoint Health Data Employee Handbook
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility

This position may manage business development support staff and any other role that is incorporated into the Business Development department in the future.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 5–7 years’ experience in business development, communications, public relations, and/or marketing roles
  • Track record of successful business development in the health IT, health data management, health analytics, and/or healthcare sectors
  • Established network of business contacts in the health IT, health analytics, state government, health policy, and/or related market sectors
  • Comfort with an incentive-based compensation package
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including exacting attention to detail and ability to conform others’ work to a consistent tone
  • A can-do attitude with a strong desire to learn
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently while producing deliverables under tight timelines
  • Strong professional presentation and persuasion skills
  • Aptitude for external-facing activities and communications, including experience with client outreach, social media, and person-to-person interactions
  • Strong computing and analytical skills, including experience with online content management systems; working knowledge of technology and database concepts preferred
  • Healthcare experience preferred
