2026 Multi-State Behavioral Health Initiative

A five-state collaboration unlocking new insights.

The 2026 Multi-State Behavioral Health Initiative builds upon our award-winning 2025 collaboration between Onpoint and our all-payer claims database (APCD) state clients. This year’s initiative brings together five APCDs – Connecticut, Georgia, Maryland, Minnesota, and Vermont – to leverage their collective data for expanded reporting and impact. The 2026 initiative features refreshed data and a new provider workforce dashboard, a downloadable file of the underlying data, and additional support documentation exploring the relationships between behavioral health, other medical conditions, and social drivers of health across key geographies. Explore the dashboards and their related materials below.

Exploring the Impact of Mental Health on Emergency Department Utilization

In this issue brief, Onpoint draws on the underlying data from our Multi-State Behavioral Health Initiative to analyze how mental health conditions impact use of the emergency department (ED) across states and payer types. The analysis includes a special focus on “frequent flyers” – individuals who make up a relatively small percentage of members but account for a disproportionate number of ED visits, many of them for non-emergency issues.
